INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS SEEKING TO ENROLL IN A NURSING PROGRAMThe Board is authorized under the Texas Nursing Practice Act to approve new nursing education programs of study (vocational and professional). Board Rules 214.3 and 215.3 specifically prohibit enrollment of students in a nursing program until the Board approves the proposal and grants the program initial approval. 22 Tex. Admin. Code §214.3(a)(2)(I) and §215.3(a)(2)(J). If you are unsure if a program has received initial approval from the Board, please check the Board’s approved program list, located here: http://www.bon.texas.gov/education_programs.asp. Please be advised that any course work represented to be a pre-licensure nursing course by a program that is not approved by the Board may not be recognized by the Board and may constitute the unlawful practice of nursing for unlicensed students who engage in the practice of nursing incidental to a program of study.
